When does a potential reward become payable?

A referral reward becomes eligible for approval and payment after the referred company completes a qualifying data licensing deal, SourceX receives payment from the buyer for that deal, and SourceX's finance team approves the reward.

A potential reward for a SourceX referral becomes eligible for payment only after a series of specific events have successfully occurred. It is not triggered by an introduction, a meeting, or even a signed agreement alone.

Key Steps to Reward Eligibility and Payment

For a reward to become payable, the referral process must advance through several critical stages:

  1. Introduction and Evaluation: You introduce an eligible business to SourceX. SourceX then reviews the opportunity to ensure it meets buyer program criteria and confirms the company has the rights to license its data.
  2. Qualifying Licensing Deal: The referred company must proceed to complete a data licensing deal. This means they agree on the scope of data to provide and the commercial terms with SourceX. Nothing is shared without the company's explicit approval.
  3. Data Acceptance and Buyer Payment: The buyer of the data must accept the delivered material, and critically, SourceX must receive its corresponding platform fee for that transaction. This is a non-negotiable step; a reward cannot be processed without SourceX having collected its fee.
  4. Reward Approval and Payment: Once SourceX has received the buyer payment, the reward associated with your referral becomes eligible for approval. SourceX's finance team reviews the transaction and approves the reward. After approval, you can then request a payout.

What Does Not Trigger a Reward

It's important to understand what events, while necessary parts of the process, do not by themselves make a reward payable:

Submitting a lead or making an introduction: These are the first steps, but do not trigger payment. A meeting, a call, or even a signed agreement: While essential for progressing the deal, a reward is only earned once the deal is complete and SourceX has been paid by the buyer. An opportunity that was already in discussion with SourceX:* If the referred company was already known to SourceX, your referral may be subject to duplicate review and potentially be ineligible.

You can track the status of your referrals, including whether they are Estimated, Eligible, Approved, or Paid, directly from your partner dashboard. Learn more about the full reward calculation and cap.
