Can an employee introduce their employer?

While self-referrals are generally flagged for review and usually not eligible, an employee can introduce their employer to SourceX. However, the referral needs to be made with the employer's full knowledge and consent from an authorized decision-maker to be potentially eligible for a reward.

Can an employee introduce their employer to SourceX?

An employee can introduce their employer to SourceX. However, such introductions are considered self-referrals and are generally flagged for review and typically not eligible for a referral reward. The program is primarily designed for third-party introductions.

Key considerations for employee referrals

For any referral to be considered, especially one involving an employee introducing their employer, several factors from the who qualifies criteria must be met:

Authorized Sponsor: The introduction must involve an owner, executive, or someone they designate who can approve a discussion about data licensing. The employee themselves usually cannot fulfill this role without explicit, authorized consent from the decision-maker. Introductions made without the decision maker's knowledge are usually not a fit. Original Documentation & Rights: The company must own the material and have the rights to license it, without breaching client confidentiality, employee privacy, or third-party contracts. Operating Maturity:* Many buyer programs look for companies with established operations, generally with 20 or more full-time employees and several years in operation.

Why self-referrals are usually ineligible

The SourceX referral program is designed to reward partners who bring new, external opportunities to SourceX. The intent is to leverage partners' networks to identify companies that SourceX might not otherwise engage with. When an employee refers their own company, it often falls outside this core purpose, and such introductions are typically not considered eligible for a reward. This policy is explicitly mentioned in our FAQ, stating that "Self-referrals are flagged for review and are generally not eligible."

How to make an introduction with impact

If you are an employee who believes your company has valuable proprietary operational data, the most effective way to explore a potential data licensing partnership with SourceX is through direct internal channels within your company. Encourage an authorized decision-maker (e.g., an executive or owner) to directly engage with SourceX or to officially designate you to do so. In such a scenario, the partnership would proceed as a direct engagement between SourceX and your company.

Rewards are calculated as 25% of SourceX's eligible collected platform fees, capped at $100,000 per referred company. A lead, meeting or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment. See the program terms.
