Referral program for accountants, bookkeepers and fractional CFOs
You know which clients have long, well-kept operating histories and which are looking for new revenue. Introducing a client to SourceX can open a licensing deal for the data in its business systems, and you can earn up to $100,000 if it closes.
Why your network holds licensable data
Finance work itself is in demand: invoice coding, approvals, reconciliations and month-end close records train finance agents, and public filings don’t show any of it.
Clients also hold support, sales and operations records that labs license. You don’t have to understand the data in detail to make a useful introduction.
Companies to look for
- Clients with 20 or more full-time employees and several years of clean records
- Clients with structured close processes and documented reconciliations
- Service businesses with detailed job, case or ticket systems
How to raise it
- Mention it during planning or a quarterly review, and share the qualification criteria.
- Get the client’s permission before you pass on their details.
- Refer the client with the owner or finance lead as the contact.
The guide to introducing a company has an email you can adapt.
Check first
- If you’re a CPA, professional rules generally require disclosing a commission to the client, and prohibit one for clients you provide audits, reviews, examinations of prospective financial information or third-party-use compilations to. Check the AICPA Code and your state board’s rules before you refer a client.
- If you prepare the client’s tax returns, US rules on tax return information (IRC §7216) may require the client’s written consent before you share their details with a third party.
- Never share client data with SourceX yourself. The client decides and licenses its own data under its own agreement.

Questions
Can I refer a client whose books I keep?
Usually, with the client’s agreement and any disclosure your professional rules require, as long as you don’t perform attest work for the client that bars commissions. The client, not you, provides and licenses the data.
Can an accounting firm license its own work papers?
Client work papers contain client data, so the client’s permission is needed. The firm’s own internal procedures and templates are a separate question; describe them in the referral.
Know a company with years of records?
Introduce the company to SourceX. If its data deal closes, you can earn up to $100,000 in referral fees, paid after the buyer accepts the data and SourceX receives payment.
