Advisor's Playbook: Data Licensing Introductions During Software Consolidation
Advisors can strategically introduce their clients for data licensing during software consolidation by first confirming the company's fit with SourceX criteria and then facilitating a compliant, authorized introduction. This process focuses on clear communication, client approval, and the advisor never handling sensitive data.
As a fractional CTO or advisor guiding a company through software consolidation, you're uniquely positioned to identify valuable data assets. Introducing your client to SourceX for data licensing can unlock new revenue streams without disrupting their core business. This playbook outlines a practical, compliant approach.
Understanding the Opportunity: Data as an Asset
Software consolidation often involves rationalizing data systems. This is an opportune moment to identify datasets that could be valuable to AI labs and data buyers, but might otherwise be archived or neglected. SourceX provides the enterprise data transaction layer for AI, managing data licensing from sourcing and rights review to delivery and payment (`F09`). We do not train AI models (`F10`).
The Advisor's Introduction Plan: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Pre-Qualify the Company (Fit Check)
Before any introduction, ensure the company meets SourceX's baseline criteria:
- US Company: Based in the United States. Our headquarters are in Los Angeles, California (`F11`).
- Employee Count: 50+ full-time employees at peak (contractors are not included in this count).
- Operating History: Years of operational records, demonstrating established data generation.
- Data Rights: The company must clearly possess the rights to license the data.
- Authorized Sponsor: An individual within the company who can champion the initiative.
Step 2: Educate and Secure Client Approval
- Introduce SourceX: Explain SourceX's role in monetizing data assets through licensing. Emphasize that the partner reward is a share of SourceX's fee and is never deducted from what the company receives (`F07`).
- Outline the Process: Explain that SourceX facilitates licensing deals without the company needing to train AI models or manage complex transactions.
- Gain Consent: Crucially, secure explicit written approval from your client to make the introduction to SourceX. This approval should clearly define the scope of the introduction and confirm their interest in exploring data licensing.
Step 3: Prepare the Introduction – Focus on Scope, Not Data
When preparing for the introduction, remember:
- No Data Handling: As an advisor, you never handle or access the company's actual data. Your role is purely facilitative.
- Scope Definition: The company must approve what general types of data (e.g., anonymized transactional data, historical usage patterns) they are open to discussing, rather than specific datasets at this stage.
- De-personalization: Ensure any information shared during the initial introduction does not contain personal identifying details of individuals.
Step 4: Make the Introduction to SourceX
Once the company is pre-qualified and you have their explicit consent, you can proceed with the introduction. This typically involves connecting a key decision-maker from the company with SourceX.
- Direct Connection: Facilitate a direct line of communication between the authorized company sponsor and SourceX. This could be an email introduction or a scheduled meeting.
- Attribution: Credit goes to the first valid referrer whose introduction leads to a verified company application within the attribution window (`F04`).
Step 5: Understanding Your Reward
As a partner, you earn 25% of the eligible platform fees SourceX actually collects from the referred company's licensing deals (`F01`). Rewards are capped at $100,000 cumulative per referred company (`F02`). Rewards become payable only after the buyer pays and SourceX receives its fee; a lead, meeting or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment (`F03`). Anyone can join our program from any supported country (`F05`).
