Portfolio and client opportunities

Portfolio data opportunity scanner

Private equity operating partners and portfolio teams can screen several companies in one session to see which may fit SourceX's current preferred profile for licensing operational records to AI labs and data buyers. Each company gets a preliminary classification, the reasons, the missing information and a suggested next action.

How it is calculated

Each company is screened with the same rules as the data licensing eligibility checker.

Results: Potential fit, More information needed or Outside the current preferred profile. "Rights clarification needed" is a separate flag when records may belong to clients or third parties, or ownership is unknown.

A company is outside the current profile if it is based outside the US, reported fewer than 50 full-time employees at peak, is not interested, or holds mainly personal data. If country, peak headcount or record categories are unknown, or three or more answers are missing, the result is "More information needed" with specific questions. Otherwise a priority score of 55 or more is a potential fit.

  • Company profile fit (25): US 10; peak FTE 50+ 10; mostly English records 5, mixed 3.
  • Record depth and usefulness (30): 10+ years 12, 3–9 years 8, under 3 3; 3 per business record category up to 4; two or more systems 6, one 3.
  • Executive access and introduction permission (25): owner or deciding executive 15, other contact 5; permission given 10, will ask 4.
  • Interest and preparation readiness (20): open to it 14, possibly 7; company believes it owns its records 6, partly third-party 2.

"Not sure" answers score 0 and stay unknown. This is SourceX's preferred profile; individual buyers can have their own requirements, which are assessed later and separately.

Worked example (illustrative)

Illustrative only: three portfolio companies — a 120-person US logistics business with 10+ years of records (Potential fit), a 35-person agency (Outside the current preferred profile), and a manufacturer with unknown peak headcount (More information needed).

Assumptions and limitations

  • No buyer matches, dataset prices, conversion probabilities or payouts are estimated.
  • Answers are self-reported; nothing is verified.
  • Don't enter confidential documents or credentials. Use nicknames if you prefer.

Questions and answers

How can a PE firm find data licensing opportunities in its portfolio?

Screen each company on size, record history and categories, executive access and interest. Companies with years of operational records and a willing executive are the best starting points.

How many companies can I scan?

As many as you like in one session; results stay in your browser.

Does the scanner estimate deal value?

No. It never estimates prices, buyer matches or payouts.

What happens to companies outside the profile?

They are listed with reasons. Profiles change, so revisit later.

How do I submit companies?

Join as a referral partner and register each company with its permission. Using the scanner doesn't create referral credit.

Is my portfolio data stored?

No. Nothing is saved unless you submit an introduction.
