What is a referral bonus?
A referral bonus is a reward a company pays you for introducing a new customer who goes on to buy. The fairest bonuses are a percentage of the revenue from the deal you introduced, with a written cap and a clear payment trigger — not a flat gift or vague promise. In the SourceX partner program, the bonus is 25% of collected platform fees, capped at $100,000 per referred company.
How a referral bonus works
A referral bonus has four parts, and you should be able to find all four in writing before you refer anyone:
- The trigger — what the person you introduce must do for the bonus to exist. In strong programs this is a real purchase, not just a sign-up.
- The amount — a flat sum or a percentage of revenue. Percentage-based bonuses scale with the size of the deal you introduce.
- The cap — the maximum you can earn per referral. A published cap is a good sign: it means the company has actually budgeted for payouts.
- The payment moment — when the money actually reaches you. Look for a defined event, such as the customer paying their invoice.
Flat bonus vs. revenue share
A flat bonus (for example, a fixed amount per sign-up) is simple but caps your upside and often pays on low-value actions. A revenue share pays you a percentage of what the customer actually spends, so a larger introduction earns a larger bonus. For high-value B2B introductions, revenue share is usually the fairer structure.
The SourceX referral bonus
SourceX pays partners 25% of the platform fees it collects from a referred company, capped at $100,000 per company. Payment follows the buyer paying and SourceX receiving its fee — the full conditions are in the partner terms. You can track every introduction, its credit status, and each payout in your partner dashboard.
Who can earn it
The program is open to consultants, advisors, and operators who can introduce companies with valuable data — typically businesses with 50 or more full-time employees at their peak. See how the program works or read the full terms.
