Does a company that downsized still qualify for data licensing?

Yes, a downsized company can still qualify for data licensing. The baseline is 50+ full-time employees at peak, with contractors excluded, not today. If the company reached that headcount, has several years of operations, holds the records from its larger years and has an authorized sponsor, it can be introduced.

Can a company that downsized still qualify for data licensing?

Yes. The company baseline is 50+ full-time employees at peak (contractors excluded), not 50+ today. A company that has since shrunk can still qualify if it reached that headcount at some point, has several years of documented operations, and still holds the records from its larger years.

The test is whether the data exists, the company has the rights to license it, and an authorized sponsor can say yes. Current headcount is a clue about who is still around to export the data, not a disqualifier.

What does "at peak" mean?

It means the highest number of full-time employees the company had at any time during its operating history. Contractors, freelancers and temporary staff are not counted. Records generated while the company was larger tend to be broader, because more teams, systems and workflows were running.

Why does a smaller company still hold valuable records?

Downsizing reduces people, not archives. Email, chat, CRM, finance, support and engineering systems keep their history unless someone deletes or cancels them. Illustrative and fictional: a company that peaked at 120 full-time employees and now has 35 may still hold six years of connected records.

What changes is risk. Fewer staff means fewer people who know where the exports live, and cost cutting often cancels subscriptions first. Guidance on what happens to Salesforce data when the contract ends and on CRM clean-up before migration shows how quickly history can vanish.

What decides whether a downsized company qualifies?

Use this short screen.

  • The company reached 50+ full-time employees at peak (contractors excluded)
  • Several years of documented operations, including the larger years
  • Records from those years still exist and someone can export them
  • The company holds the rights to license them
  • An authorized sponsor, such as the owner, CEO, CFO or authorized representative, can engage
  • The sponsor will consider an exclusive license for an agreed term

If the archives were deleted, or a court, trustee or assignee now controls the assets and has not been involved, the company does not qualify yet. The who qualifies page and the overview of which companies qualify list the other red flags.

What if the company is winding down?

Still operating, acquired or wound down: all can qualify if the data still exists. The urgency is higher in a wind-down because systems get retired quickly. Read how to wind down a company without losing its records before approaching the owner.

Partner notes

Partners make introductions and give basic fit information only; never ask for or describe confidential records. Partners earn 25% of the eligible platform fees SourceX actually collects from the referred company's licensing deals, capped at $100,000 per referred company. The reward is paid only after the buyer pays and SourceX receives its fee; an introduction, meeting or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment, and no reward is guaranteed.

Common questions

How do I count peak headcount for a company?

Ask the sponsor for the highest number of full-time employees at any point in the company's history, excluding contractors. A rough figure from payroll or an old org chart is enough for a first screen; SourceX confirms details during qualification.

Does a company with 20 people today need to be rejected?

No. Current headcount is not the test. If it reached 50+ full-time employees at peak and still has the records, it can be introduced. If it never reached that level, it does not meet the baseline.

Do records from the larger years need to be intact?

They need to exist and be exportable. Partial archives can still be assessed, but deleted archives, cancelled systems without exports, or assets controlled by a trustee or assignee who has not been involved are red flags that stop a company from qualifying.

Does a downsizing change who can authorize a license?

It can. Fewer executives may remain, so confirm that the owner, CEO, CFO or another authorized representative is still in place and able to sign. Without an authorized sponsor, a company cannot move forward.

Can a company that was acquired and shrank qualify?

Yes, if the data still exists and the right to license it is clear. Acquisition changes who holds rights and who the sponsor is, so confirm both before the introduction.
