Can a referred company participate if some documents belong to its clients?
No, generally, a company cannot participate in a data licensing partnership with SourceX if the material, documents, or data belong to its clients. For a company to be eligible, it must either own the material it proposes to license or have clear, demonstrable rights to license it without breaching any agreements.
SourceX evaluates referred companies based on several key criteria, including the critical aspect of Rights to license. This means the company must:
Own the material itself, or Be able to license it without breaching client confidentiality, employee privacy, or third-party contracts.
Why data ownership and rights are crucial
Data licensing is based on a company's ability to legally and ethically share its proprietary operational data. If the data or documents are client-owned, the company typically does not have the authority to license them independently. This protects client confidentiality and ensures the integrity of the data licensing process.
What types of data are typically a fit?
SourceX looks for companies with:
Original documentation: This includes materials the company created itself, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), internal knowledge bases, project histories, Quality Assurance (QA) records, and support workflows. Proprietary operational data: This refers to data generated through the company's internal operations and processes, which it has the right to use and license.
What types of data are usually not a fit?
Consistent with the requirement for data ownership, certain types of material are typically not eligible:
Material that belongs to the company's clients rather than the company itself. Personal consumer data, scraped data, or data the company does not control.
How SourceX assesses eligibility
During the evaluation process (Stage 3: SourceX reviews the opportunity), SourceX assesses operating history, documentation, data rights, and relevance to buyer programs. This includes a thorough check of whether the company has the necessary rights to license its proposed data assets.
For a preliminary, non-binding screening of a potential referral, partners can utilize the company fit checker.
