What is a data audit or assessment?

A data assessment inventories what data a company holds, where it lives, its condition and its potential value to buyers. It is the first step in every SourceX engagement.

What an assessment covers

  • Inventory. What data exists, in which systems, covering what period.
  • Condition. Volume, completeness, formats and organization.
  • Rights. What the company has authority to license.
  • Fit. How the data matches current buyer demand.

Why it comes first

Neither the company nor buyers can act on unknown data. Assessment turns "we probably have useful data" into a concrete, documentable picture.

What it costs the company

Nothing upfront. SourceX assesses as part of its process; the company commits only when it accepts transaction terms.

What this means for partners

An introduction starts the assessment — the company does not need to prepare anything. The typical qualifying profile is 50+ full-time employees at peak. If a deal closes and SourceX collects its fee, you earn 25% of that fee, up to $100,000 per company.
