How Irish advisors can refer US companies and earn a data licensing reward
Irish advisers can refer US companies by introducing the authorized sponsor of a US group, often the parent CFO, to SourceX. The company must have 50+ full-time employees at peak, years of records and rights to license them. Check your professional body's fee rules, Revenue treatment and US tax forms before accepting any reward.
Why are Irish advisers well placed to refer US companies?
Irish advisers often sit closest to the finance function of a US group's Irish entity, which gives them a route to the US parent's CFO, controller or general counsel. If that US company has 50+ full-time employees at peak (contractors excluded), years of records and an authorized sponsor, you can introduce it to SourceX and earn a reward if it licenses its data and the deal is paid.
The typical Irish vantage points are a statutory audit or tax compliance engagement for the Irish subsidiary, a payroll or bookkeeping service, a corporate secretarial role, or an interim finance seat during a transition. None of these require you to touch the US company's records. They give you something more useful: the name of the person in Boston, Austin or Chicago who can say yes.
Data licensing is the licensing of a company's own operational records, such as tickets, deal histories, engineering reviews and approvals, to AI developers for a one-time payment. The company keeps ownership and signs only if price and terms work. SourceX runs the process; you make the introduction.
Which US companies in your Irish book fit?
Look at the US side of the group, not the Irish branch. The Irish entity may have 12 people while the group has 400, and the group is the unit that qualifies.
| Signal | What to look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Group size | 50+ full-time employees at peak across the US operating company | Enough people produce enough connected records |
| Age | Several years of documented operations, including retired platforms | Long histories show how decisions played out |
| Systems | Email, Teams or Slack, CRM, finance, support, engineering, operations; strong companies often run 10-15+ | Connected systems show whole workflows |
| Irish footprint | A shared services center, support hub or engineering team in Ireland | The Irish team often knows where exports live |
| Ownership of records | The US company created the records itself, not for clients | Rights must be clean before buyers review |
Software, IT services, professional services and engineering groups with an Irish support or R&D center tend to screen best. The who qualifies page has the full baseline.
The 3-door test for reaching the right person
Irish advisers usually reach a US group through one of three doors. Decide which one you hold before you write anything.
- Door 1, the parent CFO: you report to or work alongside the group finance lead. Raise it directly.
- Door 2, the Irish country manager: you know the local head but not the parent. Ask for a warm introduction, and do not pitch the local manager as if they could sign.
- Door 3, a shared contact: a lawyer, banker or investor knows both sides. Brief that person and let them decide whether to open the door.
An authorized sponsor, meaning an owner, CEO, CFO or authorized representative, must be involved before anything proceeds. A local manager cannot license the group's records.
When in the Irish calendar does the topic come up naturally?
| Moment | Why it works | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Year-end close and audit fieldwork | You are reading the group's finance and systems controls anyway | Which finance and ERP systems are being retired this year? |
| Group reporting packs | Parent finance is in contact with you | Does the group have a view on new non-operating income? |
| Systems migration of the Irish ledger | Old platforms are about to be switched off | Has someone preserved a full export before cut-over? |
| Restructuring of the Irish entity | Group is consolidating functions | What happens to the archives of the closing team? |
| Acquisition of the US parent | Records and rights are being mapped in diligence | Do we want a licensing decision before or after completion? |
How the introduction works without you handling data
- Register as a partner at /register and take your referral link, or submit the company through the referral form.
- The US group's sponsor applies at sourcex.si/apply with your code attached, or SourceX contacts the sponsor using your details.
- SourceX screens the group on size, history, data breadth and rights.
- The company's own team lists its systems and what can be exported; your Irish contacts are not asked to help.
- Price and terms are settled as one all-in figure before any buyer sees material.
- AI labs and data buyers review; once the company is deal-ready, buyers typically respond within about two weeks.
- If a deal closes, the company is paid, typically within about 60 days of invoicing once the buyer selects the data. Your reward follows once SourceX has received its fee.
You never export, upload or describe confidential records. Redaction and de-identification rules are agreed with the company before work begins, and delivery happens only under an executed agreement.

What do Irish professional and tax checks look like?
Check three things before you accept any reward, and do them in this order.
- Your professional body. If you are a chartered accountant, read your body's rules on commissions and referral fees first. The page on Irish accountants and referral fees under your code covers what to look for. Rules often depend on whether you also provide audit or assurance services to the client, so the Irish entity you audit may be the very company you cannot refer.
- Your own tax position. Income from a foreign referral arrangement is something to declare with Revenue as your tax adviser directs. Do not guess.
- The paperwork the payer asks for. A non-US firm paid by a US payer is typically asked for Form W-8BEN-E, which documents foreign status and goes to the payer, not to the IRS. The IRS explains the form on its About Form W-8 BEN-E page. Our walkthrough, how to fill out a W-8BEN-E for an advisory or consulting firm, shows the steps for a consultancy.
This is general information, not legal, tax or financial advice. Confirm with your own counsel, tax adviser or professional body before acting.
How do partner rewards work?
Partners earn 25% of the eligible platform fees SourceX actually collects from the referred company's licensing deals, capped at $100,000 per referred company. The reward is paid only after the buyer pays and SourceX receives its fee; an introduction, meeting or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment, and no reward is guaranteed. The reward is a share of SourceX's fee and is never deducted from what the company receives. Details are set by the signed agreement and the program terms; the referral earnings calculator shows how the formula works.
When should an Irish adviser not bother?
- The company is under 50 full-time employees at peak, or the only large entity is a pass-through with no operating records.
- The US company holds mainly its clients' data, as an outsourcer or agency would, and the clients have not consented.
- You audit the company and your professional rules or independence policy rule out a fee.
- The records are mostly consumer personal data or health data with no licensing basis.
- You cannot reach an owner, CEO, CFO or authorized representative.

- Step 1Share your linkSend your personal link to a company you know.
- Step 2Company appliesThe company applies itself at /apply.
- Step 3Buyer selects and paysThe buyer selects and pays for the data and SourceX receives its fee.

Common questions
Can I refer the US parent of an Irish company I advise?
Yes, if the US company meets the baseline: 50+ full-time employees at peak with contractors excluded, several years of documented operations, rights to license its data and an authorized sponsor. The Irish entity alone rarely qualifies. Check your professional body's rules first, especially if you provide audit or assurance services.
Do I need an Irish company to join as a partner?
No. Anyone can join from any supported country. Licensed professionals should check their own rules on referral fees and disclosure. Whether you act as an individual or through a company affects the tax form a US payer may request, so ask your tax adviser before you register.
Does the US company's Irish team need to export data for me?
No. Partners never export, upload or describe confidential records. The company works directly with SourceX on its data inventory, rights review and redaction rules. Your role is limited to the introduction and basic fit information such as size, history and the sponsor's name.
What if the Irish subsidiary holds personal data of EU residents?
Raise it with the company early, because personal data in a dataset needs a lawful basis and often de-identification. SourceX agrees redaction and de-identification requirements with the company before any work begins. The company's own counsel decides what can be licensed.
How long until I know whether the company qualifies?
Qualification is a conversation with SourceX covering size, history, data breadth and rights. Once a company is deal-ready, buyers typically respond within about two weeks. Timing before that depends on how quickly the company completes its data inventory and agrees price and terms.
