Quarterly Referral Planning for Professional Advisors
A quarterly referral planning process for advisors involves reviewing existing networks against SourceX's company baseline, strategically planning introductions, and tracking the status of open referrals. This systematic approach helps maximize referral opportunities and ensure timely follow-ups.
Professional advisors often have extensive networks of relationships, making them ideal partners for SourceX. To effectively leverage these connections and maximize your referral potential, a structured, quarterly planning process can be invaluable. This guide outlines how to integrate SourceX referrals into your regular business review cycle.
Why a Quarterly Referral Cycle?
A systematic approach helps ensure you don't miss opportunities and that your efforts are focused. By reviewing your network regularly, you can proactively identify companies that fit the SourceX profile and plan targeted introductions. This also allows you to track the progress of your referrals and learn from each cycle.
SourceX is the enterprise data transaction layer for AI, managing data licensing from sourcing and rights review to delivery and payment. We're looking for specific types of companies, and your expertise helps us find them.
Step 1: Network Review & Qualification
Goal: Identify potential referral candidates from your existing network.
Begin by reviewing your client list, past associates, and professional contacts. For each potential company, ask yourself if they meet the core SourceX referral criteria:
- Are they a US company?
- Do they have 50+ full-time employees at peak (contractors excluded)?
- Do they have years of operating records?
- Do they have the rights to license data?
- Do they have an authorized sponsor who can champion the initiative?
Consider companies that own or generate unique datasets. Remember, the partner reward is a share of SourceX's fee and is never deducted from what the company receives.
Self-Assessment Worksheet: Network Qualification
| Company Name | Primary Contact | US Company? | 50+ FTE? | Operating Records? | Rights to License? | Authorized Sponsor? | Notes |

Step 2: Introduction Planning
Goal: Prepare for outreach to qualified companies.
Once you've identified potential candidates, plan your approach for each. Consider:
- Best contact method: Email, phone, in-person meeting?
- Key message: How will you explain SourceX's value proposition concisely? (Hint: SourceX manages data licensing transactions for AI labs and data buyers.)
- Timing: When is the best time to make the introduction?
Remember, credit goes to the first valid referrer whose introduction leads to a verified company application within the attribution window. Plan your introductions carefully.
Step 3: Open Referrals Review
Goal: Track the progress of active referrals.
Review all companies you've introduced to SourceX. For each, confirm:
- Introduction date: When was the referral made?
- Current status: Have they applied? Is SourceX engaging with them?
- Next steps: Is there any action you can take to facilitate the process? (e.g., a follow-up with your contact).
Rewards become payable only after the buyer pays and SourceX receives its fee. A lead, meeting, or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment. Your reward rate is 25% of the eligible platform fees SourceX actually collects, capped at $100,000 cumulative per referred company.
Step 4: Lessons Learned & Refinement
Goal: Improve your referral process for future quarters.
After each quarter, reflect on your activities:
- What worked well in your introduction strategy?
- What challenges did you encounter?
- Were there common objections from potential companies?
- How can you refine your network qualification criteria?
This continuous improvement loop will enhance your effectiveness over time. Anyone can join the program, from any supported country, but licensed professionals should check their own rules on referral fees.
