Plain-language guide to the approved SourceX rewards policy

SourceX referral rewards are calculated as 25% of SourceX's collected platform fees, not the full transaction value, and are capped at $100,000 per referred company. Payouts are triggered only after a qualifying licensing deal is completed, data is accepted, and SourceX receives its fee.

Understanding the SourceX Referral Rewards Policy

Becoming a SourceX referral partner means you can earn rewards for successful introductions. This guide explains how rewards are calculated, the conditions for payment, and key policy details to ensure clarity.

How Rewards Are Calculated

Your reward is based on a percentage of the platform fees SourceX actually earns and collects from eligible licensing deals with a company you refer. It is crucial to understand that this is not a percentage of the total transaction value or the data owner's payout. SourceX does not assume a fixed fee percentage for every deal; each agreement's actual recorded fee is used for calculation.

Specifically, the reward base (SourceX's eligible collected platform fee) excludes:

Payments made to the data owner for their licensed data. Applicable taxes. Pass-through reimbursements. Refunds and chargebacks.

Your reward is 25% of this specific fee, not the overall deal size. For an illustrative example of this calculation, please refer to our rewards section.

The Reward Cap

To ensure fairness and sustainability, total rewards are capped at $100,000 per referred company. This cap applies across all qualifying transactions and installments with that specific company.

When a Reward Becomes Eligible for Payment

A reward is not automatically granted upon an introduction, meeting, or even a signed agreement. For a reward to become eligible, a series of steps must be successfully completed:

  1. Introduction: You introduce an eligible business to SourceX.
  2. Review: SourceX evaluates the opportunity for relevance to buyer programs, operating maturity, original documentation, and rights to license.
  3. Licensing Deal: The referred company completes a qualifying data licensing deal with SourceX, determining the data scope and agreeing to commercial terms.
  4. Buyer Payment: The data buyer accepts the delivery, and SourceX successfully collects its platform fee from that transaction.

Only after these steps are fulfilled can your reward become eligible for approval and payment. You can track the progress of your referrals via your dashboard, as detailed in how it works.

Understanding Reward Statuses

Your SourceX dashboard provides clear statuses for each referral, helping you track its journey:

Estimated: An initial indication of potential earnings while the opportunity is still in progress. Eligible: SourceX has received a qualifying platform fee from the buyer. Approved: The finance team has reviewed and formally approved the reward for payout. Processing: A payout for the reward is actively being prepared or is underway. Paid:* The payout has been successfully completed and recorded.

It's important to note that rewards can be canceled or reversed if a payment is refunded, or if a referral is later found to be ineligible based on program terms. Any such changes will be recorded with a reason.

Referral Attribution and Eligibility

Attribution rules ensure that the correct partner receives credit. The first valid referral within the specified attribution window receives credit once the referred company completes a verified application. Once established, this credit is locked. If SourceX was already in discussions with a company before your introduction, or if there are competing introductions, the case goes to a duplicate review, and your referral may not be eligible. Self-referrals are generally not eligible.
