SourceX referral partner handbook
The SourceX Referral Partner Handbook guides partners through the program stages, outlines criteria for eligible businesses, explains how rewards are calculated, and clarifies important terms for successful referrals.
SourceX Referral Partner Handbook
Welcome to the SourceX Referral Program! This handbook provides an overview of how our program works, what types of businesses are a good fit, and how you earn rewards for successful introductions.
Our program empowers individuals and businesses with valuable connections to introduce companies with proprietary operational data to SourceX. We then evaluate these businesses for data licensing partnerships with AI buyers, creating new revenue streams for them and referral rewards for you.
How the Program Works
Understanding the process is key to maximizing your referral success. The SourceX referral program follows a clear six-stage path, ensuring transparency and proper attribution.
- Register and get your referral link. Partner registration is free and provides you with a personal referral link. You can also directly submit an introduction from your partner dashboard.
- Introduce an eligible business. Share your unique link with a founder, executive, or another authorized contact who can discuss licensing company data with SourceX.
- SourceX reviews the opportunity. We assess the company's operating history, available documentation, data rights, and the relevance of their material to current buyer programs.
- The company completes a qualifying licensing deal. The referred company decides on the scope of data they wish to license and agrees to commercial terms. No data is ever shared without their explicit approval.
- Data is accepted and buyer payment is received. The buyer must accept the delivered data, and SourceX must successfully collect its platform fee.
- Your reward becomes eligible for approval and payment. Once the payment is received, our finance team reviews and approves your reward, making it available for payout.
What Each Party Controls
You initiate the introduction. You are never required to export, upload, or describe confidential company records. The company maintains full control over whether to proceed, what data scope to offer, and the terms it accepts for any licensing deal. SourceX* manages the evaluation process, secures necessary permissions, handles contracting, prepares data for buyers, facilitates delivery, and collects payments for approved transactions.

Who Qualifies as a Referral
Identifying suitable companies is crucial. While buyer programs vary, a useful initial screening profile includes:
Operating maturity. Many buyer programs seek companies with approximately 20 or more full-time employees and several years in operation. However, smaller, specialized companies can also be considered. Original documentation. Look for businesses with their own Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), internal knowledge bases, project histories, Quality Assurance (QA) records, and support workflows. Rights to license. The company must own the material or be able to license it without breaching confidentiality, privacy, or third-party contracts. An authorized sponsor. The introduction must be made with the knowledge and approval of an owner, executive, or designated decision-maker. Relevance to buyer demand.* The data must align with the needs of an active buyer program, which SourceX verifies during the review process.
Usually not a fit:
Personal consumer data, scraped data, or data the company does not control. Material belonging to the company's clients rather than the company itself. Businesses looking to sell a one-off file without comprehensive documentation or context. Introductions made without the decision maker's knowledge.
Each buyer program has specific requirements regarding company size, operating history, geography, language, and data category. A company that doesn't fit one program might be suitable for another later. You can try our company fit checker for a preliminary, non-binding screening.
Understanding Your Rewards
Your reward is calculated based on SourceX's eligible collected platform fees, not the total transaction value or the data owner's payout. This ensures clarity and fairness in reward calculation.
You earn 25% of the platform fees SourceX actually earns and collects from eligible transactions with the referred company. The reward base excludes supplier payments to the data owner, taxes, pass-through reimbursements, refunds, and chargebacks. * Total rewards are capped at $100,000 per referred company, across all installments and transactions with that company.
When is a reward paid?
A reward is paid after the buyer accepts the data, SourceX receives the corresponding fee, and finance approves the reward. It's important to note that submitting a lead, making an introduction, or even a signed agreement alone does not trigger payment.
Tracking your referral:
Your dashboard provides real-time updates on each referral's status: Estimated, Eligible, Approved, Processing, and Paid. An actual payout must be recorded for a referral to show as "Paid".

Important Considerations
Attribution: The first valid referral within the attribution window receives credit once the company completes its verified application. This credit is then locked. Competing or pre-existing introductions will undergo a duplicate review process. Self-referrals: Self-referrals are generally not eligible and are flagged for review. Data privacy:* You are never required to share any company data. The referred company will decide what to share, under a direct agreement with SourceX.
