Knowledge management consultants understand the power of structured information. When introducing a company to SourceX, the key is to clearly articulate their data licensing potential. Our metadata-only Confluence inventory template is designed precisely for this: to help you identify and organize the essential characteristics of a company's data assets for a successful introduction, all while maintaining strict data privacy.
Why a Metadata-Only Approach?
SourceX is the enterprise data transaction layer for AI, managing data licensing from sourcing and rights review to delivery and payment. Our partners play a crucial role in identifying US companies with valuable data. However, partners never handle the actual company data. This template reinforces that principle by focusing solely on metadata.
This approach benefits everyone:
- For the Partner: You don't need access to sensitive information. Your role is to identify potential, not to audit data. You are protected from handling confidential data.
- For the Company: Their data remains secure. They share only what's necessary to initiate the conversation with SourceX.
- For SourceX: We get a clear, structured overview of potential data assets, allowing us to quickly assess suitability and engage effectively.
What to Inventory (Metadata, Not Data)
The goal is to list record types and their date ranges. This helps AI labs and data buyers understand the scope and relevance of the data without ever seeing specific records or values. Think of it as a table of contents for a library, not the library's books themselves.
Example Metadata Fields:
- Record Type: (e.g., Customer transaction records, Sensor telemetry, Public comment logs, Scientific research data, Historical weather observations)
- Date Range (Start): (e.g., YYYY-MM-DD)
- Date Range (End): (e.g., YYYY-MM-DD)
- Approximate Volume/Frequency (Illustrative): (e.g., Daily, Hourly, Billions of records, Terabytes per month)
- Key Characteristics: (e.g., Geo-tagged, Time-series, Textual, Structured, Categorical, Proprietary)
- Purpose/Context (Brief): (e.g., Used for internal analytics, Publicly collected, Generated by specific devices)
- Notes: (Any relevant high-level insights about the data's utility or unique properties)
Confluence Template Example
Here's a simplified structure you can adapt directly in Confluence. Use tables for clarity.

Partner Assurance: No Data Handling
It is crucial to reiterate: as a SourceX partner, you never handle the company's data. Your expertise is in identifying valuable data sources and connecting them with SourceX. The entire process of data review, rights management, and transaction occurs directly between SourceX and the referred company, ensuring confidentiality and security.
Rewards become payable only after the buyer pays and SourceX receives its fee. A lead, meeting or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment. Partners earn 25% of the eligible platform fees SourceX actually collects from the referred company's licensing deals. Rewards are capped at $100,000 cumulative per referred company. The partner reward is a share of SourceX's fee and is never deducted from what the company receives.
