What information belongs in the first referral submission?

In your initial referral submission, provide basic company details and the contact information for an authorized individual who can discuss data licensing. You do not need to share confidential company data yourself.

When making an initial referral to SourceX, your role is to introduce an eligible business and its authorized contact. The key is to provide enough information for SourceX to follow up, without needing to submit any confidential or proprietary data yourself. This initial step is designed to be straightforward and respect privacy.

Essential Information for Initial Submission

The primary goal of your first referral submission is to identify a potential data licensing partner and enable SourceX to initiate a conversation. The essential information includes:

Company Name: The full legal name of the business you are referring. Key Contact Information: The name, title, and preferred contact details (email, phone) of an owner, executive, or another authorized individual within the company who is empowered to discuss data licensing partnerships. Brief Description of the Company's Operations:* A high-level overview of what the company does, which helps SourceX understand its potential relevance to buyer programs.

What You Do Not Need to Submit

It is crucial to understand what is not required, and in fact, should never be submitted by you in the initial referral process:

Proprietary or Confidential Data: You do not need to export, upload, or describe any internal operating data, financial records, client lists, or other sensitive company information. The referred company makes its own decision about what data scope it is willing to provide directly to SourceX, under its own agreement. Detailed Data Descriptions: While a brief operational overview is helpful, you are not expected to provide a detailed inventory or specification of the company's data assets. Commercial Terms:* You are not involved in negotiating pricing or commercial terms for data licensing. This is handled directly between SourceX and the referred company.

How Your Submission Is Used

Once you submit the referral, SourceX takes over. We assess the operating history, documentation, data rights, and relevance of the material to a real buyer program. The company ultimately controls whether to proceed, what scope to offer, and the terms it accepts. Your role is simply to facilitate the initial introduction.

You can track the progress of your referral through your partner dashboard. Learn more about how the referral process works and who qualifies as a data licensing partner.

Submitting Your Referral

You can submit a referral directly from your dashboard after you register, or by sharing your personal referral link with the authorized contact. Your dashboard will guide you through the required fields for the initial submission. For a preliminary, non-binding screening, you can also use the company fit checker.
