Can I introduce a company if I do not work there?

Yes, you can introduce a company to SourceX even if you do not work there. The key requirement is that you have a real relationship with a decision-maker at the company who can authorize discussions about data licensing.

Yes, you can introduce a company to SourceX even if you do not work there. The program is designed for individuals and businesses with real relationships with company decision-makers, regardless of their employment status with the referred company.

Who can make a referral?

SourceX welcomes referrals from individuals and businesses who have established relationships with decision-makers at potential data-licensing companies. The critical factor is your ability to connect us with an authorized sponsor – an owner, executive, or someone they designate – who can approve a discussion about licensing their company's proprietary operational data.

What matters is the strength of your relationship and your ability to facilitate an introduction, not your employment status with the referred company.

What makes a successful introduction?

For a referral to be successful, the introduced business needs to meet certain criteria, and the referral process must follow the program guidelines:

  1. Authorized Sponsor: The most important element is an authorized sponsor from the company. This individual must be able to discuss and approve the licensing of the company's data. Introductions made without the decision-maker's knowledge are generally not a fit.
  2. Eligible Company Profile: The referred company should ideally have roughly 20 or more full-time employees, several years in operation, and possess original, proprietary documentation (like SOPs, internal knowledge bases, or project histories). They must also have the rights to license this material without breaching confidentiality or third-party contracts.
  3. Relevance to Buyer Demand: SourceX assesses whether the company's data is relevant to existing buyer programs. A company that doesn't fit one program might fit another later.

You can use our company fit checker for a preliminary, non-binding screening.

Key steps for making an introduction

The referral process is straightforward:

  1. Register and get your referral link. You can also submit an introduction directly from your dashboard.
  2. Introduce an eligible business. Share your link with a founder, executive, or other authorized contact.
  3. SourceX reviews the opportunity. We assess the company's operating history, data rights, and relevance to buyer programs.

Crucially, you do not need to export, upload, or describe confidential records yourself. The company controls whether to proceed, what data scope to offer, and the terms it accepts. SourceX handles the evaluation, permissions, contracting, preparation, delivery, and payment collection.

When do you earn a reward?

A reward is not triggered by an introduction, meeting, or signed agreement alone. Your reward becomes eligible for approval and payment after the company completes a qualifying licensing deal, data is accepted by the buyer, and SourceX receives its platform fees. Your dashboard allows you to track your referral's stage and reward status.

For more details on reward calculation, visit our rewards page or consult the FAQ.
