Can a business owner refer their own company?
Self-referrals by business owners to SourceX are generally not eligible and are flagged for review. The program is designed for partners to introduce *new* businesses, and rewards are not triggered by self-introductions.
Self-Referrals by Business Owners
Self-referrals, where a business owner attempts to refer their own company to SourceX, are generally not eligible for the referral program. Such referrals are flagged for review by SourceX. The program is designed for partners to introduce new businesses and opportunities that SourceX may not yet be aware of.
Why are self-referrals generally not eligible?
The SourceX referral program is structured to reward partners for making valuable introductions to companies with whom SourceX does not already have an established relationship or ongoing discussions. The primary goal is to expand SourceX's network through third-party introductions. When a business owner refers their own company, it typically falls outside the scope of what the program is designed to incentivize.
What makes a referral eligible?
An eligible referral involves a partner introducing an authorized representative of a business—such as a founder or executive—to SourceX. This introduction should be for a company that meets the eligibility criteria, including having valuable proprietary operational data and the rights to license it. Key aspects of an eligible referral include:
A new introduction: The referred company should not already be in active discussions with SourceX. ([Attribution](/rewards) applies) Authorization: The contact at the referred company must be authorized to discuss data licensing. Qualifying data:* The company should possess original documentation and operational data relevant to buyer demand.
The referral process
When a partner makes an introduction, SourceX evaluates the opportunity to see if the company's data aligns with buyer programs. The referred company then decides whether to proceed with a licensing deal, controlling the scope and terms of any data sharing. The partner's reward is contingent on SourceX receiving its fees from a qualifying licensing deal. You can track the stages of a referral through your dashboard, from "Estimated" to "Paid." For a full breakdown, see how it works.
Rewards are calculated as 25% of SourceX's eligible collected platform fees, capped at $100,000 per referred company. A lead, meeting or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment. See the program terms.
