How AI data-licensing deals are structured
AI data-licensing deals typically define what data is covered, what uses are permitted, how the data is protected and anonymized, and how and when payment flows.
The common building blocks
Public reporting on AI data-licensing agreements describes a consistent structure:
- Scope. Which datasets are covered, and over what time period.
- Rights. What the buyer may do — training, evaluation, fine-tuning — and what is excluded.
- Protection. Anonymization, security requirements and handling standards.
- Payment. Lump sums, annual fees or usage-based terms; reported deals range from millions to hundreds of millions of dollars (Reuters coverage).
How SourceX fits
SourceX is the enterprise data transaction layer for AI: it assesses a company's data, handles anonymization and structuring, and manages the transaction with buyers. Companies earn from data they already hold; partners who introduce them earn 25% of SourceX's collected fee, up to $100,000 per company, if a deal closes.
