How to measure collected platform fees by content cohort
Partners do not measure collected platform fees directly. SourceX calculates platform fees internally from qualifying licensing deals, and referral rewards are then determined as 25% of these fees, capped at $100,000 per company, after buyer payment is received.
Understanding SourceX Collected Platform Fees for Referral Rewards
As a SourceX referral partner, your focus is on making valuable introductions. You do not need to directly measure collected platform fees or analyze them by specific data categories (often referred to as 'content cohorts'). This process is handled internally by SourceX, based on the commercial agreements for each successful data licensing deal.
Your reward is calculated based on SourceX's portion of these collected fees, not on your own measurement or analysis. SourceX manages all the complexities of fee collection and allocation.
What are Collected Platform Fees?
'Collected platform fees' refer to the revenue SourceX earns and actually collects from successful data licensing transactions initiated by referred companies. These are the gross fees SourceX retains after a buyer accepts data and remits payment. They form the base for calculating your referral reward.
How SourceX Calculates Fees (and Your Reward)
- Successful Licensing Deal: A referred company completes a qualifying data licensing deal with an AI buyer via SourceX.
- Buyer Payment Received: The buyer accepts the data delivery, and SourceX receives its agreed-upon fee for facilitating the transaction.
- Fee Calculation: SourceX's finance team calculates the eligible platform fee. This fee explicitly excludes elements such as payments to the data owner, taxes, pass-through reimbursements, refunds, and chargebacks. Each deal's fee is determined by its specific commercial terms, not a fixed percentage across all transactions.
- Reward Determination: Your referral reward is then calculated as 25% of this eligible collected platform fee. This reward is capped at $100,000 per referred company, across all transactions with that company.
Important: You do not need to, nor should you, attempt to export, upload, or analyze any company's proprietary data or financial records to understand fee calculations. Your role is solely to make the introduction.
Why Partners Don't Measure Fees Directly
Directly measuring collected platform fees, especially by specific content cohorts, involves access to sensitive financial data, detailed contractual terms, and internal accounting processes. This level of detail is unnecessary and outside the scope of a referral partner's involvement. Your referral dashboard provides transparent updates on your reward status without requiring you to handle proprietary financial information.
Tracking Your Reward Status
Your referral dashboard provides updates on your referral's journey and reward status. This includes stages like 'Estimated,' 'Eligible,' 'Approved,' and 'Paid.' You will see when a reward becomes 'Eligible' once SourceX has received a qualifying fee, and 'Approved' after finance review.
