How to distinguish a referral reward from the company licensing proceeds
A referral reward is a share of the platform fee SourceX itself collects; it is separate from, and never deducted from, what the referred company receives.
The short answer
When a company you introduced licenses data, the buyer's payment is split between the company (the data owner) and SourceX's platform fee. Your referral reward is 25% of the eligible fee SourceX actually collects. It is paid by SourceX and is not taken from the company's share.
Three different amounts
| Amount | Who receives it | Basis for your reward? |
|---|---|---|
| Total transaction value | Paid by the buyer | No |
| Company licensing proceeds | The data owner | No |
| SourceX platform fee | SourceX | Yes, eligible collected portion only |
What is excluded from the fee base
Supplier payments, taxes, pass-through reimbursements, refunds and chargebacks are not part of SourceX's eligible fee.
Why this matters when you introduce a company
- You can tell the owner truthfully that your reward does not reduce their payout.
- Disclose that you may receive a referral reward from SourceX if they become a partner.
- Rewards depend on a completed, paid licensing deal; an application, meeting or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment.
