How staffing firms can recognize suitable business clients

Staffing firms can recognize suitable business clients for SourceX referrals by evaluating their operating maturity, the presence of proprietary documentation, their rights to license data, and the availability of an authorized sponsor.

Recognizing Suitable Business Clients for SourceX Referrals

Staffing firms are uniquely positioned to identify businesses with valuable operational data suitable for SourceX's data licensing program. By understanding the key characteristics of a good referral, you can more effectively introduce your clients to a potential new revenue stream.

Key Indicators for a Strong Referral

When evaluating your business clients, focus on these characteristics that align with buyer demand and SourceX's program requirements:

Operating Maturity*: Many buyer programs seek companies with established operations. A useful initial screening profile often looks for businesses with roughly 20 or more full-time employees and several years in operation. While some programs set higher thresholds, smaller specialists can still be considered, depending on the specific buyer's needs.

Original Documentation*: The most valuable data for licensing often comes from a company's internal, proprietary records. Look for clients who have developed extensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), internal knowledge bases, detailed project histories, Quality Assurance (QA) records, support workflows, and similar material that the company created itself.

Rights to License*: A crucial factor is whether the company legally owns the material or has the explicit right to license it. This means they can share the data without breaching client confidentiality, employee privacy, or existing third-party contracts. Material that belongs to the company's clients rather than the company itself is usually not a fit.

Authorized Sponsor*: For a referral to progress, there must be an owner, executive, or someone they designate who can approve a discussion about data licensing. Introducing a business without the decision maker's knowledge is usually not a fit and can hinder progress.

Relevance to Buyer Demand*: While SourceX assesses this during its review, you can consider whether the client's operational data might be relevant to improving AI models or providing insights into specific industries or processes. This indicates a higher potential for a successful match.

What to Avoid

Just as important as knowing what to look for, is understanding what typically does not qualify:

Personal Consumer Data or Scraped Data: Material that includes personal consumer data, data obtained through scraping, or data the company does not fully control is generally unsuitable. One-off Files Without Context: Businesses that only want to sell a one-off file with no accompanying documentation or context are usually not a fit for ongoing data licensing programs.

How SourceX Reviews and Processes Referrals

Once you introduce an eligible business, SourceX takes over the evaluation process. This involves assessing operating history, documentation, data rights, and confirming relevance to a real buyer program. It's important to remember that the company ultimately controls whether to proceed, what scope of data to offer, and the terms it accepts. Nothing is shared without its approval.

Your role as a referral partner is to make the introduction. You do not need to export, upload, or describe confidential records. The company decides what to share, under an agreement with SourceX. Never ask readers to export or send actual data; metadata-level discussion only, owner consent first.

Tracking Your Referral and Understanding Rewards

Your dashboard allows you to track each referral's stage and its reward status, from Estimated to Eligible, Approved, and Paid. Rewards become eligible for approval and payment only after the referred company completes a qualifying licensing deal, data is accepted, and buyer payment is received by SourceX.

To pre-screen potential referrals, consider using the company fit checker for a preliminary, non-binding assessment.

Rewards are calculated as 25% of SourceX's eligible collected platform fees, capped at $100,000 per referred company. A lead, meeting or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment. See the program terms.
