How referral attribution works across a website and a partner portal

SourceX referral attribution credits the first valid referrer whose introduction leads to a verified company application within the attribution window. Once credit is locked, it remains with that referrer for all subsequent eligible transactions with the same company.

How Referral Attribution Works Across Our Website and Partner Portal

Attribution for SourceX referrals is designed to be clear and fair, ensuring that partners who make the initial, valid introduction receive credit for successful engagements. Whether you use a personal referral link or submit directly through the partner portal, the underlying rules for how credit is assigned remain consistent.

The Core Principle: First Valid Introduction

The fundamental rule for SourceX attribution is that the first valid referral within the attribution window receives credit for that company. This means that if multiple partners introduce the same company, only the earliest, valid introduction that leads to a verified company application will be attributed. Once credit is locked, it remains with that referrer for any subsequent eligible licensing deals with that company.

What Constitutes a Valid Introduction?

For an introduction to be considered valid and eligible for attribution, it must meet several criteria:

New to SourceX: The company must not already be in active discussion with SourceX. Our system performs a duplicate review to identify pre-existing leads or competing introductions. If SourceX was already engaged, the referral may be deemed ineligible. Decision-Maker Consent: The introduction should be made with the knowledge and approval of an authorized decision-maker at the referred company. Introductions made without the decision maker's knowledge are usually not a fit. Through Approved Channels:* Referrals should be made either via your unique referral link or by submitting an introduction directly through your partner dashboard.

The Attribution Window

While the exact duration of the attribution window is defined in the program terms, its purpose is to ensure that your introduction leads to action within a reasonable timeframe. If a company does not proceed with a verified application within this window, the introduction may expire, potentially opening the door for another referrer later.

Duplicate Review

Our system automatically flags and reviews potential duplicate introductions. This process ensures that:

If SourceX was already in contact with a company, the referral will be marked as ineligible. If two partners refer the same company, the first valid introduction receives credit.

Tracking Your Referral's Progress

Your partner dashboard is your central hub for monitoring all your referrals. Here, you can see each referral's stage and its reward status. This transparency allows you to track whether your introduction has been successfully attributed and its journey through the SourceX process.

Estimated: An initial indication as the opportunity progresses. Eligible: SourceX has received a qualifying fee from a successful deal. Approved: Our finance team has approved the reward for payment. Paid: The payout has been recorded as completed.

Referrals can be canceled or reversed if a payment is refunded or if the referral is later found to be ineligible, with the reason always recorded in your dashboard.

What Does Not Trigger a Reward (and thus, Attribution)

It's important to understand that attribution and reward eligibility are tied to successful outcomes, not just initial contact. A reward is not triggered by:

Submitting a lead or making an introduction on its own. A meeting, a call, or a signed agreement before buyer payment is received. * A company that was already in discussion with SourceX before your introduction.
