Unlock New Revenue: QuickBooks Clients as Data Licensing Opportunities

Accountants and implementation partners working with QuickBooks clients are uniquely positioned to identify companies suitable for data licensing. By understanding key client characteristics, you can refer them to SourceX and earn a share of the platform fees.

As an accountant or implementation partner, you're deeply integrated into your clients' financial operations. This unique vantage point allows you to recognize opportunities many others miss – specifically, data licensing for AI. SourceX offers a referral program that rewards you for connecting qualifying companies with our platform.

How Your QuickBooks Expertise Reveals Data Value

Your work with QuickBooks gives you direct insight into a company's history, size, and operational data. These are the very factors that make a company's data valuable for AI licensing. Think of your role as a data detective, using your existing client relationships to uncover hidden assets.

Here’s what to look for during your routine QuickBooks engagements:

Identify Eligible Companies

SourceX is focused on US companies that meet specific criteria. Your QuickBooks work can help you quickly assess if a client fits the bill:

  • Employee Count: Look for companies that have had 50+ full-time employees at peak. Your payroll records and historical financial statements within QuickBooks are excellent sources for verifying this. Remember, this excludes contractors.
  • Operating Records: A company with years of operating records indicates a rich historical data set. QuickBooks files are a treasure trove of this information, showing consistent activity over time.
  • Data Rights: While you won't be reviewing legal documents, understanding if a client owns the rights to license their data is crucial. During discussions about their business model or data usage, you might get clues. This often applies to companies that generate proprietary operational or business process data.
  • Authorized Sponsor: The company will need an authorized sponsor to engage with SourceX. This is typically a senior executive or founder who understands the value of their data and can champion the licensing process.

Spotting the Opportunity

Beyond the baseline criteria, consider clients who:

  • Have large, structured datasets from their operations that could be valuable for training AI models (e.g., historical sales, inventory, customer interactions, operational logs).
  • Are looking for new revenue streams without disrupting their core business.
  • Are innovative and open to exploring new technologies.

Your Reward for Successful Referrals

When you refer a qualifying company that goes on to license its data through SourceX, you earn a reward.

  • Reward Structure: Partners earn 25% of the eligible platform fees SourceX actually collects from the referred company's licensing deals.
  • Reward Cap: Rewards are capped at $100,000 cumulative per referred company.
  • Payout Trigger: Rewards become payable only after the buyer pays and SourceX receives its fee. A lead, meeting, or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment.
  • No Impact on Company Proceeds: The partner reward is a share of SourceX's fee and is never deducted from what the company receives.

Illustrative Example

Let's say a referred company enters a licensing deal. SourceX collects fees from that deal over time. As these fees are collected, you, as the referrer, would earn 25% of those collected fees, up to a total of $100,000 for that specific company. This illustrates how the reward is tied to SourceX's actual collections.

What SourceX Does (and Doesn't Do)

SourceX is the enterprise data transaction layer for AI, managing data licensing from sourcing and rights review to delivery and payment. We handle the complexities of data licensing, allowing companies to monetize their data securely and efficiently.

SourceX does not train AI models. We are focused on facilitating the licensing transactions. Your referred companies' data will be used by AI labs and data buyers for their models, not by SourceX itself.

Next Steps

If you identify a QuickBooks client that fits the criteria, or if you're ready to start looking for opportunities, consider joining our program.

  • Review your client list for companies meeting the 50+ FTE peak employee count and years of operating records.
  • Consider which clients might have proprietary data rights and an authorized sponsor.
  • Understand that your role is to introduce, not to handle sensitive data. Partners never handle company data.
