A First Month Referral Plan for Staffing Firms

Staffing firm owners can leverage their client relationships by identifying companies that meet SourceX's criteria for data licensing. The first month focuses on client screening, sponsor confirmation, making introductions, and tracking the referral process.

As a staffing firm owner, you're uniquely positioned. You have established relationships with companies and an intimate understanding of their operations. This makes you an ideal partner for SourceX, where you can earn rewards by connecting US companies with AI labs and data buyers.

This guide outlines a practical first-month plan to integrate data licensing referrals into your existing business workflow, without disrupting your core services.

Week 1: Understand the Baseline & Identify Potential Leads

The first step is to thoroughly understand what SourceX looks for in a referred company. This baseline helps you quickly filter your existing client roster.

SourceX Company Baseline Checklist:

  • US-based company: Must operate within the United States.
  • Employee count: Has had 50 or more full-time employees at its peak. (Contractors are not included in this count.)
  • Operating history: Possesses years of operating records.
  • Data rights: Holds the necessary rights to license its data.
  • Authorized sponsor: Can identify an individual within the company who is authorized to act as a sponsor for data licensing initiatives.

Action: Review your current and past client lists. Flag any US companies that you believe might meet these criteria. Don't worry about perfect matches at this stage; focus on potential.

Week 2: Initial Screening and Sponsor Identification

Now that you have a preliminary list, it's time to refine it and identify key contacts.

Refining Your List:

  • Employee count verification: Use your knowledge of the client or publicly available information (like LinkedIn) to confirm the 50+ FTE count at its peak.
  • Operating records & data rights: Based on your engagement with them, do they generate significant operational data? Do they have a clear understanding of their intellectual property? These are often indicators of potential data assets and rights.
  • Identifying a sponsor: Who within the company would champion a data licensing initiative? Often, this could be someone in product development, R&D, data strategy, or even a C-level executive.

Action: For each flagged company, make a note of who the potential sponsor might be. If unsure, plan to reach out to your primary contact at the company to gather this information discreetly.

Week 3: Soft Introductions & Confirming Interest

This week focuses on making initial, low-pressure introductions to your potential sponsors. The goal is to gauge their interest without overwhelming them.

Approach for an Initial Conversation:

  • Start broad: Inquire about their long-term data strategy, how they're approaching AI, or any emerging revenue streams they're exploring.
  • Introduce SourceX briefly: If the conversation naturally steers towards data or new revenue, mention SourceX as an enterprise data transaction layer for AI. Explain that SourceX helps companies license their data to AI labs and data buyers.
  • Gauge interest: Ask if exploring a new revenue stream from their operational data is something they might be interested in, without pressing for a commitment.

Illustrative example: "Given your extensive operational data, have you ever considered if there's an opportunity to license some of it to AI companies? I recently learned about SourceX, a platform that helps manage those transactions, from sourcing to payment. It seems like a way to monetize data you already have, without impacting your core business."

Action: Reach out to 2-3 of your most promising leads. Keep the conversation exploratory and informational. Do not push for a decision.

Week 4: Formalizing the Referral & Tracking

If a company expresses interest, it's time to make the formal referral and begin tracking.

Steps for a Formal Referral:

  • Get explicit consent: Before submitting their details, ensure the company's authorized sponsor agrees to be introduced to SourceX.
  • Submit through the portal: Use your unique referral link to submit the company's details, including the sponsor's contact information.
  • Understand attribution: Remember, credit goes to the first valid referrer whose introduction leads to a verified company application within the attribution window.

Reward Structure Reminder:

Partners earn 25% of the eligible platform fees SourceX actually collects from the referred company's licensing deals, up to a cap of $100,000 cumulative per referred company. Rewards become payable after SourceX receives its fee; a lead or meeting alone does not trigger payment. The partner reward is a share of SourceX's fee and is never deducted from what the company receives.

Action: Submit any leads who have explicitly agreed. Set up a simple system (a spreadsheet or CRM tag) to track: company name, sponsor name, date referred, and the attribution window end date. This helps you monitor your referrals without needing to constantly check on their status (SourceX will notify you of progress). Ensure your tracking system reminds you when a referral's attribution window is nearing its end.

By following this first-month plan, you can effectively integrate data licensing referrals into your staffing firm's operations, creating a potential new revenue stream while offering added value to your clients.
