Complete archives from wound-down companies

Full operational archives from companies that have shut down: Slack, Jira, GitHub, Google Drive and email, kept together so one project can be followed across every system. Labs value them because they show how a whole company worked over years. Reported deals for small startups have typically run $10,000 to $100,000 per company.

What a record contains

One company archive: an export from each system plus, where the agreed de-identification allows it, a crosswalk that maps people, projects and dates across systems.

FieldWhat it holds
system_exports[]System, date range and item counts
people_crosswalkOne pseudonymous ID per person across systems, where allowed
project_crosswalkProjects mapped across chat, tickets and code
timeline[]Key dates such as launches, pivots and shutdown

How AI labs use it

Whole-company agent environments
Build simulated workplaces from real cross-system history.
Long-horizon tasks
Follow a feature from discussion to ticket to code to release.
Evaluation
Questions whose answers need several systems.

Typical preparation requirements

Agreed with the supplier before any work begins. Typical requirements include:

  • Whoever now controls the company’s assets authorizes the license: founders, the board, or an assignee or trustee
  • Privacy policy promises and employee notices reviewed
  • Customer data, secrets and HR material removed
  • Court approval where the company is in bankruptcy

Every dataset has a documented owner and confirmed licensing rights. See data governance on sourcex.si.

What makes a strong package

  • Archives exported before subscriptions lapsed
  • Several systems covering the same years
  • Engineering history with linked tickets

Compared with public datasets

Public sets such as Enron Email Dataset and Software-related Slack Chats with Disentangled Conversations are useful references, but limited as enterprise training data. The chat and email category page compares them with licensed data.

Who typically holds it

  • Shut-down startups
  • Companies in wind-down or an assignment for the benefit of creditors
  • Discontinued business units

Know a company like this?

Introduce the company to SourceX. If its data deal closes, you can earn up to $100,000 in referral fees, paid after the buyer accepts the data and SourceX receives payment.

Questions

Can a company that has already closed still license its data?

Yes, if the archives still exist and whoever controls the company’s assets agrees. In bankruptcy, the court must approve the deal; in an assignment for the benefit of creditors, the assignee decides.

Why does completeness matter?

Linked systems let a model follow the same work across chat, tickets and code, which is hard to find anywhere else.

Need this data for a model?

Describe what you need: domain, volume, history, format and licensing terms. SourceX looks for companies that hold it and can license it.
