Documents, spreadsheets and decks with revision history

Business documents, spreadsheets and presentations with their revision history and comment threads, from shared drives. Labs use them to train document-editing agents on how real drafts change between versions and how reviewers’ comments get resolved. Company archives commonly span 3–15+ years of files.

Typical preparation requirements

Agreed with the supplier before any work begins. Typical requirements include:

  • Files scoped by folder or type before any review
  • Personal, HR and legal files excluded
  • Third-party documents such as vendor contracts and purchased reports excluded unless licensable

Every dataset has a documented owner and confirmed licensing rights. See data governance on sourcex.si.

What makes a strong package

  • Version history kept, not just final files
  • Comment threads
  • Domain-heavy files such as financial models and engineering specs

Compared with public datasets

Public sets such as RVL-CDIP are useful references, but limited as enterprise training data. The documents and knowledge category page compares them with licensed data.

Who typically holds it

  • Consulting firms
  • Finance teams
  • Engineering firms
  • Agencies

Questions

Is full version history always available?

Not always. Native Google Docs, Sheets and Slides keep detailed revision history, while uploaded files and SharePoint libraries keep versions according to their settings, so what exists varies by company.

Need this data for a model?

Describe what you need: domain, volume, history, format and licensing terms. SourceX looks for companies that hold it and can license it.
