Advisors: Helping Engineering Clients Monetize Operational Data

Advisors can introduce engineering and design clients to SourceX for data licensing by highlighting the potential for passive revenue from existing operational data. The advisor's role is strictly introductory, never handling client data, with the client always retaining full control over data scope and approval.

The Opportunity: Turning Operational Data into Revenue

As an advisor to engineering and design firms, you understand the immense value locked within their operations. From sensor readings to design parameters, these companies generate vast amounts of data daily. This data, when properly licensed, can become a significant, passive revenue stream, benefiting the company without disrupting core operations.

SourceX facilitates this by connecting companies with AI labs and data buyers looking for high-quality, real-world data to train and validate their models. SourceX manages the entire data licensing transaction, from sourcing and rights review to delivery and payment, allowing companies to focus on their primary business.

Your Role as an Introducer, Not a Data Handler

Your expertise lies in advising your clients on strategic opportunities. When it comes to data licensing, your role is to introduce the concept and SourceX as a potential partner. It's crucial to stress that:

  • You never handle client data. Your responsibility is to make the introduction; SourceX handles all data-related discussions and transactions directly with the client. This protects both your client's sensitive information and your firm from data handling liabilities.
  • The client retains full control. The client company will approve the exact scope of any data to be licensed. They decide what data, if any, is shared, and under what terms. SourceX's fee is never deducted from what the company receives; your referral reward is a share of SourceX's fee, ensuring the client's proceeds are maximized.

Identifying Eligible Clients

Consider your US-based engineering and design clients who meet these criteria:

  • Size and History: Companies with 50 or more full-time employees at their peak and established operating records.
  • Data Rights: They must possess clear rights to license their operational data.
  • Authorized Sponsor: An individual within the company who can champion the initiative and act as the main point of contact.

How to Introduce the Concept

Here’s a simple approach you can take with your clients:

1. Initiate the Discussion

Start by asking about their approach to intellectual property or underutilized assets. You might say:

2. Explain the Value Proposition

Focus on the benefits for your client:

  • Passive Revenue: Generate income from data they already possess, without additional work.
  • Strategic Advantage: Participate in the rapidly growing AI economy.
  • Zero Cost, Minimal Effort: SourceX handles the complex aspects of licensing.

3. Introduce SourceX

Explain SourceX's role as the enterprise data transaction layer for AI. Highlight that SourceX manages the entire process – from identifying data buyers to ensuring proper licensing and secure payment. Emphasize that SourceX does not train AI models but facilitates the secure transaction of data licensing.

4. Reassure on Data Security and Control

Reiterate that the client remains in full control. SourceX never touches their proprietary systems, and no data is shared without explicit, written company approval. The advisor (you) will never handle their data. The client's authorized sponsor will work directly with SourceX.

5. Facilitate the Connection

If your client expresses interest, offer to make a direct introduction to SourceX. Remember, credit for your referral goes to the first valid referrer whose introduction leads to a verified company application within the attribution window.

Your Reward for Successful Referrals

As a SourceX partner, you earn 25% of the eligible platform fees SourceX collects from your referred company's licensing deals. This reward is cumulative, up to $100,000 per referred company. Rewards become payable only after the buyer pays and SourceX receives its fee. A lead, meeting, or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment.

This is a straightforward way to provide additional value to your engineering and design clients while creating a new revenue stream for yourself.
