Your First Month: Referral Plan for Management Consultants
A practical first-month referral plan for management consultants involves screening existing clients against SourceX's company baseline, confirming an authorized sponsor, and making a qualified introduction. This process focuses on identifying high-potential US companies for data licensing opportunities.
Management consultants are uniquely positioned to identify companies that can benefit from SourceX's enterprise data licensing services. Your existing client relationships and understanding of business operations provide a strong foundation for successful referrals. This guide outlines a practical first-month plan to get started.
Week 1: Understand the Criteria & Identify Prospects
Your first step is to thoroughly understand what makes a company eligible for SourceX. This will help you efficiently screen your client portfolio.
- Review SourceX's Offering: SourceX is the enterprise data transaction layer for AI, managing data licensing from sourcing and rights review to delivery and payment. SourceX does not train AI models.
- Company Baseline Check: Focus on US companies that meet the following criteria:
- 50+ full-time employees at peak (contractors excluded).
- Years of operating records.
- Clear rights to license their data.
- An authorized sponsor within the company ready to engage.
- Initial Client Screening: Go through your current and past client lists. Which ones might possess valuable data assets? Which ones operate in sectors where data is a core component of their business or where data monetization could be a strategic initiative? Identify 3-5 potential companies for deeper review.
Week 2: Deep Dive & Sponsor Confirmation
With a shortlist of potential companies, your focus shifts to confirming their fit and identifying the key contact.
- Verify Company Profile: For each shortlisted company, confirm it meets the baseline criteria. Specifically, confirm the number of full-time US employees and evidence of long-standing operations. Remember, you never handle company data yourself.
- Identify the Authorized Sponsor: Who within the company has the authority and insight to explore data licensing? This is often a CTO, CDO, Head of Strategy, or a senior executive with a mandate around new revenue streams or digital transformation. The sponsor must be authorized to discuss data licensing opportunities.
- Initial Outreach Plan: Develop a low-friction approach to gauge interest. This isn't about selling SourceX, but confirming the company's baseline fit and the sponsor's willingness to learn more. A simple, direct question about their strategic view on data assets can be effective.
Week 3: Qualify & Introduce
Now, you're ready to make a qualified introduction.
- Pre-introduction Check: Before making an introduction to SourceX, ensure:
- The company fully meets the baseline criteria.
- The authorized sponsor is interested in exploring data licensing with SourceX.
- The sponsor is prepared for SourceX to reach out to them.
- Make the Introduction: Follow SourceX's referral process. This typically involves submitting the company's details and the sponsor's contact information through the partner portal. Ensure you receive confirmation that your referral is logged.
- Attribution Window Awareness: Credit for rewards goes to the first valid referrer whose introduction leads to a verified company application within the attribution window. While you don't need to track specific dates, being mindful of when you made the introduction is helpful for future reference.
Week 4: Tracking & Continued Engagement
Your role shifts to monitoring the status of your referral and identifying new opportunities.
- Referral Tracking: Check your SourceX partner portal for updates on your submitted referrals. This is where you'll see progress. Rewards become payable only after the buyer pays and SourceX receives its fee; a lead, meeting, or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment.
- Understand Rewards: Partners earn 25% of the eligible platform fees SourceX actually collects from the referred company's licensing deals. Rewards are capped at $100,000 cumulative per referred company. The partner reward is a share of SourceX's fee and is never deducted from what the company receives.
- Identify New Prospects: As your first month concludes, reflect on the process. What worked well? Are there other clients or connections in your network that fit the profile? Continue to screen your network for new opportunities.
This structured approach allows you to systematically integrate SourceX referrals into your consulting practice without disrupting your core business. Remember, success is built on careful qualification and strategic introductions.
- Step 1Share your linkSend your personal link to a company you know.
- Step 2Company appliesThe company applies itself at /apply.
- Step 3Buyer selects and paysThe buyer selects and pays for the data and SourceX receives its fee.
- Step 4You get your rewardYour share of SourceX fees becomes payable.
